Today we had our first major disaster of the trip -- LOST LEGOS! Need I say more? This may not seem like a disaster to many of you but it most definitely is to a six year old little boy who is far away from the comforts of home. To say that Legos are Ethan's favorite toy is an understatement. And we didn't just lose a Lego or even a critical Lego piece or even a favorite Lego guy, no we lost his entire Lego bag! We gave up any sight seeing time this morning to turn the room upside down and never found that precious bag. How it was lost and where it is will remain a mystery, a tragic one at that. Now we are in our way to Brenolo.
If you have ever watched The Amazing Race then you can picture this all too familiar scene: An otherwise happy couple that seems to genuinely like each other get into a car in a foreign country with a destination in mind but no GPS. The man is driving, the woman is looking at the map. You know what happens next, they come to the first fork in the road, all the signs are foreign, and all kinds of stress fills the car. By the time they have made it out of the airport you are saying to yourself "they will surely be divorced before the season ends". Yep, that was us. And I now have a suggestion for the producers of The Amazing Race... Instead of handicapping teams with a Speed Bump an even more challenging handicap is 4 kids squished in the back seat yelling for mommy and daddy or at each other while you try to navigate! Did you catch the key word there -- squished! Can anyone say clown car! Check this out:
So we are finally on our way and moving fast, except for the numerous potty stops slowing us down (and no playgrounds at these potty stops but somehow we still seem attracted to every single one along the way).
Justin wants me to mention that he never made a single wrong turn in all the chaos of getting out of the airport and around Paris, personally I attribute it to his great navigator :)
P.S. We are still happily married :)
